Reference Policy
Occasionally people will request a reference for a job application or other need. Providing a reference means that we are recommending that individual and are standing over his/hers honesty and integrity. We take that responsibility seriously, for our good name and integrity is at stake also. We are glad to provide a reference when we know a person well enough to know that they are worthy of our recommendation.
In order to be able to carry out this responsibility properly, we require the person seeking a reference should have been attending regularly for a minimum period of 3 months (“regularly” means we should see the person in church at least once every week).
This is a minimum standards, and much more is expected from a person who professes Biblical faith. The church maintains an attendance record, and this will be consulted when references are requested.
If a person is not faithful to God and His church, they are not likely to be faithful to an earthly state or person. In such a situation of unfaithfulness to God, we cannot provide a reference.
